“It’s such a friendly, personal and supportive community”

Marena has lived in Chinchilla for 2 years, having moved from Toowoomba where she lived for 10 years after being born and bred in Mitchell for 29 years. What she likes best about Chinchilla is the great schooling and sporting opportunities, the many options for family outings, and the fact that almost everyone can call each other by name when we shop. “It’s such a friendly, personal and supportive community.”

“People of all ages are willing to get involved in the community”

Kristelle grew up in Chinchilla, moved away to study, then returned for the work opportunities and lifestyle change. What she likes best about Chinchilla is that “people of all ages are willing to get involved in the community.” When she goes away Kristelle misses the “country lifestyle, open plains and minimal traffic.”

“Being able to say hello to everyone on the street… knowing everyone”

Mensland Chinchilla is one of our iconic businesses. Commencing in 1933, it remained in the Alan Family for 78 years until August 2011 when long time employee Rhonda McMahon purchased the business. Rhonda intends for Mensland to stay in Chinchilla for as long as possible. What she loves best about Chinchilla is “knowing all of our customers personally.” What she misses when she goes away is “being able to say hello to everyone on the street… knowing everyone.” She added “Chinchilla has changed, yet we are still a community that welcomes newcomers.”
